Join us for a weekend + of White Tara instruction and practice. This class is for beginners and those with some previous exposure as well. Please note, you must have received the White Tara empowerment in order to sign up for this class.
White Tara is identified as an embodiment of enlightened activity characterized by compassion and deathlessness. In Tibetan Buddhism her practice is done as a means to eliminate obstacles, extend vitality, and familiarize the practitioner with the innate clarity of awareness.
This event spans a full weekend. On Friday evening, we'll meet on Zoom only, for orientation and to help you get organized. Please be prepared in this event to take copious notes. White Tara is a somewhat complex practice with mudras, mantras, and visualizations.
On Saturday and Sunday at the Vicarage, there will be space for floor sitting and seats at a table. We have floor cushions, but we do not have 'pecha tables' for note taking so come prepared for your needs.
We have 10 White Tara texts. You can reserve one by letting us know you need one. After our ten run out (and they will) you can also get them at Kagyu Changchub Chuling. https://kcc.org/ KCC does not mail texts, you'll need to pick one up at their center or have a Portland friend retrieve and mail one.
We'll have a lunch break, so bring a bag lunch. Dekeling will provide tea. It's fine to bring snacks to share.
I strongly recommend that you order this book for continuing your learning after the event: https://www.namsebangdzo.com/Wish-Fulfilling-Wheel-Practice-of-White-Tara-p/10643.htm You can certainly do the class without it, but it is a compendium of most everything we'll cover on the weekend--and more. Small run dharma books like this often go out of print.
